9. Lungi Ngidi

Notable Mentions and the Hard Choices
This selection process was not without its dilemmas. Players like Reeza Hendricks, Chris Morris, and Albie Morkel came close to making the list but were narrowly edged out by those who offered slightly more in their respective roles. Hendricks, for instance, has shown promise and consistency but couldn’t outshine the legacy of Amla or the explosiveness of Rossouw. Morris and Morkel, both fantastic all-rounders, were pipped by Pretorius’s superior striking ability and versatility.

In constructing this XI, we’ve aimed not just to celebrate individual brilliance but to weave together a team that represents the best of South African cricket’s past, present, and future. It’s a lineup that blends explosive batting, strategic bowling, and dynamic fielding, all underpinned by a legacy of excellence and innovation. =

One response to “Ranked: South Africa’s ultimate T20 team”

  1. JP deserves to be in this team or at worst honorable mention. Averaged 38.68, SR of 128 coming in at number 3/4/5/6/7. Plus bowling average of 28, econ of 7.76. Better batting average than anyone in team selected and bowls and fantastic fielder.
