Delhi Capitals have parted ways with South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi for this IPL season, as he focuses on recovering from a lower back injury.

Ngidi, 27, suffered the injury during the SA20 playoffs last month.

The Cricket South Africa (CSA) medical team is currently overseeing his recovery, and he is undergoing rehabilitation with his provincial team, the Northerns Titans.

He is anticipated to make his comeback during the latter half of the T20 Challenge, which takes place in April.

“Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins DC for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac,” IPL stated.
