Rassie van der Dussen has been appointed captain of the Proteas squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series against the West Indies. The squad, strengthened by the addition of three IPL players—Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, and Anrich Nortje—will look to build momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

The series, set to be held in Kingston, Jamaica, will take place on the 23rd, 25th, and 26th of May. Despite not being part of the Proteas’ T20 World Cup squad, van der Dussen’s appointment as captain is seen as a strategic move to leverage his extensive experience.

“Rassie brings a wealth of experience,” stated Proteas coach Rob Walter. “It is a relatively inexperienced group. He offers huge value given the T20 cricket he has been playing.”
