An international West Indies cricketer has been accused of rape and sexual harassment by multiple women, including a teenager, according to reports from Guyana-based Kaieteur News. The allegations, initially made two years ago, have resurfaced, with lawyer Nigel Hughes stating that the evidence is “pretty strong.” Despite these serious accusations, no formal charges have been filed to date.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has declined to comment on the matter, stating they have not received any official communication regarding the allegations.

The controversy emerges as the West Indies cricket team faces scrutiny following a significant defeat to Australia in the first Test match of their three-match series. Australia secured a commanding 159-run victory within three days at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. After being bowled out for 180 in their first innings and conceding a 10-run lead, Australia rebounded with a robust second innings total of 310, thanks to pivotal half-centuries from Travis Head (61), Beau Webster (63), and Alex Carey (65).

Chasing a target of 301, the West Indies were dismissed for 141, with Josh Hazlewood delivering a remarkable spell, taking 5 wickets for 43 runs. Nathan Lyon concluded the innings by claiming the final two wickets in consecutive deliveries.

Travis Head’s consistent performance earned him the Player of the Match award, marking his tenth such accolade in World Test Championship matches—a new record.

The series continues with the second Test scheduled to begin on July 3 in St. George’s, Grenada.
