Proteas coach Rob Walter has called up Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi for South Africa’s opening match of the Tri-Series against New Zealand in Lahore on Monday. Both players join the squad following the conclusion of their SA20 campaigns, with Ngidi representing the Paarl Royals and Shamsi turning out for the Joburg Super Kings.
Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen will miss the first match as they travel to Karachi ahead of the second fixture against Pakistan on Wednesday.
Several key members of South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad—including Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Rassie van der Dussen—will depart for Pakistan next Friday.
