Corbin Bosch is at the center of a contractual controversy involving the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi and Indian Premier League giants Mumbai Indians.

The 30-year-old all-rounder was initially drafted by Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL’s diamond category during January’s player draft. However, a twist arose when Mumbai Indians announced on 8 March that Bosch would replace injured fast bowler Lizaad Williams in their IPL squad, effectively pulling him out of his PSL commitment.

Reacting swiftly, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement condemning Bosch’s decision, emphasizing its seriousness:

“The PCB has served notice to Corbin Bosch via his agent for breach of contract. The PCB management will await Bosch’s response to their inquiry, and no further comments will be made at this stage.”

This development is especially significant since 2025 marks the first year the PSL and IPL schedules overlap directly, creating conflicts for international players involved in both leagues. The IPL will run from 22 March to 25 May, while the PSL is scheduled from 11 April to 18 May.

The PCB had adjusted the PSL window to April-May, hoping to attract high-caliber overseas talent who had previously been split between multiple T20 commitments globally. Players such as David Warner, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, and Rassie van der Dussen were among the marquee names secured by PSL teams this season.

Bosch’s departure has triggered concerns within PSL franchises about players using PSL drafts as leverage for better IPL opportunities. Discussions have even touched upon the possibility of a ban on players who renege on their PSL commitments for IPL contracts, although no formal decision has yet been made.

The PCB’s statement underscored that Bosch’s response is awaited, emphasizing the league’s intent to uphold contractual integrity moving forward.
