The Proteas will embark on a short but exciting tour of Australia, playing three T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) in August 2025. Notably, this tour will not include any Test matches.
Scheduled to follow South Africa’s highly anticipated World Test Championship final against Australia in England and their subsequent Test series against Zimbabwe, this Australian tour offers the Proteas a fresh opportunity to test themselves against high-quality opposition in limited-overs cricket.
According to Cricket Australia, this series will mark the return of international cricket to Darwin after a 17-year hiatus. Matches will also be hosted in Cairns and Mackay, further expanding cricket’s footprint in northern Australia.
Australia vs South Africa Schedule:
T20I Series:
- First T20I: 10 August, Darwin
- Second T20I: 12 August, Darwin
- Third T20I: 16 August, Cairns
ODI Series:

Following the Proteas’ visit, Australia is scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is against India in October and November 2025, making for a busy and engaging cricket calendar.
Outgoing Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley highlighted the excitement around the upcoming fixtures, stating: “We smashed many records for attendance, viewing audiences, and digital engagement last summer, and we’re confident that this incredible momentum will continue throughout what promises to be an engrossing season.”
Hockley further expressed appreciation for all involved stakeholders, adding: “We are extremely grateful for the cooperation and support of all our government, venue, broadcast, and commercial partners who ensure Australia’s national sport continues to deliver brilliant experiences in stadiums and drive participation across the country.”
