While the IPL often grabs the global spotlight, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) continues to quietly build a reputation as a proving ground for elite T20 talent. South Africa, traditionally a strong exporter of T20 stars, is well represented once again in the 2025 edition, though with a slightly thinner contingent this year. Here’s a look at who has made their way to Pakistan — and who hasn’t.

Islamabad United:

  • Rassie van der Dussen (Supplementary Draft – Withdrawn)
    • Rassie was originally picked up but withdrew from the tournament citing personal reasons. His absence will be felt, given his experience and calmness in T20 chases.
  • Andries Gous (Silver category – Honourable mention)
    • USA-based but South African-born, Gous has quietly built a reputation as a powerful top-order batter. His inclusion adds depth and could see him grab a bigger role if opportunities arise.

Lahore Qalandars:

  • Dawid Wiese (Retained – Honourable mention)
    • The veteran all-rounder continues his long association with Lahore. A fan favourite and a vital cog in their 2022 and 2023 title wins, Wiese brings experience and finishing prowess with both bat and ball.

Peshawar Zalmi:

  • George Linde (Replacement Player)
    • The versatile left-arm spinner and handy lower-order hitter comes in as a replacement. Linde offers balance with his ability to bowl economically in the middle overs and chip in with quick runs.

Quetta Gladiators:

  • Rilee Rossouw (Retained from 2024)
    • One of South Africa’s most dangerous T20 batters, Rossouw remains a key figure for Quetta. His aggressive style and match-winning ability will once again be central to the Gladiators’ campaign.

While the likes of van der Dussen may be missing this year, the South African presence in the PSL remains notable. Rossouw and Wiese offer established star power, Linde adds a fresh dynamic, and Andries Gous continues to make strides representing the next tier of global T20 talent.

As the tournament unfolds, expect at least a few of these familiar Proteas faces to make headlines in Pakistan
