One of South Africa’s most exciting young talents, Dewald Brevis, has often been compared to AB de Villiers for his explosive batting style. Despite the constant “Baby AB” tag, Brevis insists he is his own player.
The 22-year-old starred in the recent T20I series against Australia, scoring 180 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 204.55. Speaking on AB de Villiers 360, he revealed his dream batting partner in a rapid-fire question.
“It’s definitely you,” Brevis told de Villiers, to which the former Proteas captain joked about meeting him in an “old men’s league” years from now.
Brevis has quickly risen since scoring 506 runs at the 2022 U19 World Cup. With 318 runs in 10 T20Is and a recent Test debut fifty, he’s in contention to replace Heinrich Klaasen ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
